About
Mia is a Primary School Teacher, Lead Educator at Students Save Lives and Mum to three beautiful boys.
Tell us a bit about how you ended up working at Students Save Lives?
I’ve been a Primary School Teacher for 10 years and love working with children. After taking a break from the classroom to have my own children, I wanted the flexibility to work where and when it suited my family. Students Save Lives allows me to continue to do the thing I love – teaching – but also spend time with my children.
What do you love about the Students Save Lives incursions?
I love the variety of students I work with. One day I could be teaching a group of 3 and 4-year-olds, and the next I could be working with High School students.
What is the best thing about teaching young children life-saving skills?
Despite being an educator for so long, it’s still amazing to me how much of the information the children are able to take on and learn in one incursion. They are so engaged and love the topic. The incursions are very hands on too, that helps with their engagement and participation.
What is the funniest question you’ve had from a child during an incursion?
There are lots of funny moments when you work with children. But a recent one came from a child that asked me if spitting in someone’s face would help wake them up!!
