About Student Saves Lives
In our incursions, children are taught life-saving skills! Through years of experience working with children in school and kindy’s, our team have created incursions that not only teach children life saving skills, they also give them the confidence to act in an emergency.
We have seen that these skills can be learned by children as young as 2 years old. Our educators conduct interactive incursions in schools, childcare centres, kindergartens, summer camps, school holidays, and after-school care programs.
We provide engaging, age-appropriate sessions tailored to different developmental stages. "Pablo" the Paramedic bear is a favourite among our littlest students.
Children leave the session with lots of goodies to remember their time learning how to save lives.
Childcare and Kindy
Our 2-3-year-old incursion participants are welcomed by our friendly mascot – Pablo the Paramedic Bear. Many of our little friends love seeing Pablo and get excited when he gives them a high five! However, some of our friends are shy and can be scared of Pablo –he doesn’t stay too long so we can get on with learning life-saving skills!
The priority at SSL is to give our younger participants the confidence to act in an emergency. We focus on fun and interaction and breaking down any fear or worries about acting in an emergency. We discover what an emergency is, and the children are taught how to call for an ambulance – they will learn how to recognise the number zero and the ‘emergency’ buttons on mobile phones. They are taught what to say to the operator and to stay on the line. They also learn how to place someone in the recovery position – a lifesaving skill that children can perform! Children are also taught CPR. All this is performed at a developmentally appropriate level with fun being the focus – hello bubbles!

Lower & Upper Primary, OSHC
Our priority remains the same at all of our incursions – to give our participants the confidence to act in an emergency. Many of our primary school participants are well-versed in calling Triple Zero and know what to say to an operator – however some are not. So we go over this in older groups as well. The content becomes a little more complex with the introductory of the “why” we do things. This helps to cement the learning for many of our students. Our Upper Primary students are also introduced to defibrillators and are shown how to put them on. There’s plenty of hands-on activities to keep our 5-12 year old’s engaged for the duration of the session, including learning the – recovery positions, checking breathing, CPR and defribillators.
